About Me

I’m passionate about helping transform the legal landscape through a conscious, compassionate, and collaborative approach. My name is Janel, and I bring over two decades of experience in the legal and business sectors. I support forward-thinking businesses in the technology, creative, and healing sectors.

My Journey

My journey began with a fascination with technology, and I pursued Computer Science in college. However, the intricacies of Calculus and Analytical Geometry led me down a different path: business and technical writing.

Corporate Experience:

My professional journey has been diverse and dynamic, with significant experience in leadership roles.

After a brief stint in restaurant management, my corporate journey began at Wilmington Trust Company, I developed their New Business Compliance Unit which included implementing effective AML processes, analyzing legal agreements, and monitoring Registered Transfer Agent (RTA) activities. My risk management and operations expertise laid a strong foundation for my future endeavors.

During my tenure at Citi, I served as Vice President in the Chief Technology Office. We supported business partners across various regions in complying with data privacy, bank secrecy, anti-money laundering, and outsourcing laws across multiple global regions. This involved leading high-priority, regulatory-driven programs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to obtain cross-border data transfer clearance for applications and teams. My responsibilities included facilitating communication between compliance, legal, and outsourcing teams to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.

Legal Expertise

I further honed my legal skills at Richards, Layton & Finger, P.A., where I served as the Coordinator of RL&F Service Corp./Corporate Advisory Paralegal. I managed over 2,000 clients and supported complex corporate formations, mergers, and dissolutions during my tenure. My role required attention to detail and a deep understanding of Delaware state law and corporate compliance.

Academic and Training Contributions

Beyond my corporate experience, I have also contributed to the academic field as an Adjunct Instructor at Wilmington University, teaching Conflict Management. Additionally, my work with the Center for Resolutions allowed me to train individuals in Advanced Mediation, Basic Mediation, and Problem-Solving and Decision-Making for Youth. These experiences have enriched my understanding of conflict resolution and collaborative problem-solving and allowed me to share my knowledge and passion for collaborative problem-solving with a broader audience.

Transition to Collaborative Law

In 2019, I founded Mulligan Collaborative Legal Services LLC to bring a new perspective to legal practice. My approach is informed by Collaborative Law, the Conscious Contracts Process® and the 9 guideposts of Journeying with Dignity: Acceptance, Awareness, Autonomy, Capability, Compassion, Responsibility, Security, and Visibility. I believe that legal services should not be primarily reactive, such as resolving conflicts, but more importantly, proactive and foster deeper connections and mutual respect among all parties involved.

Commitment to Your Success

My mission is to empower you and your business with solutions that are effective and aligned with your values and goals. I am committed to providing personalized, thoughtful, and comprehensive support, ensuring every interaction is rooted in conscious connection and compassion.

Whether you are an individual entrepreneur or a business team, I invite you to join me on a transformative journey that respects and enhances your professional relationships. Together, we can navigate the complexities of the business landscape with dignity and integrity.
